"Loaning" money

I am not sure why Cool Chick has become the sounding board of players whining about loaning money, when she CLEARLY stated "As to loans, I sympathise with the dissenters (Sboll etc), but, to be consistent, I havent condemned them, tho I'll continue to gently make fun of some of the more bizarre practices on here."

Is loaning money illegal? Nope. Is it against the rules? No, it isn't. Do people have problems with it? Yeah, some do. Did Cool Chick start all the problems? Well, although Laurabaybee may say yes, uh, no, she didnt.....

Loaning money is fine with the people that loan, or get loans, and it isn't fine with the people who don't have friends that can help them out. Either way, it's not against the rules.

Ryan should make a set of rules, and THEN, if you are caught disobeying them, you should be held accountable.

I just think that it's against the spirit of poker and makes the game a mockery (but I accept that it's a free game if you choose it to be). I do have friends on here; I just dont choose to take loans. I agree with your point about ryan saying something about it tho.

That's my $1500's worth

I think of it just one way. If i got a loan from the start of like 300k, I wouldn't have to play at the 25/50 tables and I probably woulda have very few refills for the month.

Loaning money is bad for gpokr.

First of all, this is a monthly competition, not a popularity contest. The spirit of competition is lost when players stop competing and start colluding.

Likewise, if your car breaks down in a race, you're out! You certainly don't get you're position back just cause you KNOW the guy in 1st place.

Loaning is cheating. When you accept a loan, you are cutting ahead of all the honest players who are slowly working their way up.

Players complain that they don't like playing at the $50 tables because players there constantly go all in with rags. Guess what? They do that because they feel no value in the $$ that has been given to them. Loaning spreads this same "it's fake money mentality" upstakes. In fact, there are specifically created limits on the upper tables to stop the $1500 alliner's from playing there.

If everybody is playing on loaned money, all the tables turn into the $50's. If every table on gpokr is like that, then everybody goes all in all the time. An already thin virtual version of poker decays into chaos.

Loaning money is bad for gpokr. Please don't do it, please tell others not to and please treat it as cheating.

I'm loath to use the word "cheating", for the same reasons as Opie.

But the loans culture is an INSULT to those of us who win our money and our medals.

To watch the begging vaccilates between amusing and distastful.

As for Laura getting stuck in to coolchick...well cc did describe Laura as a "groupie"...apt, i thought.

The only thing loaning money makes a mockery of is the membership. Yeah it does suck having to start with only 1500. Its nice to have a little extra cash to fall back on to get u started. And thats what a membership gives you. So basically the people getting loans are getting the benifit of a membership without having to pay for it. I can understand why the people who have paid for a membership might be upset by it.
