Texas Hold'em Gpokr Style
There are lots of great places to learn the basic rules of Poker, and specifically Texas Hold'em. Like all the best games Hold'em is a simple game to learn, and difficult to master. Here are some websites to help you get started:
Once you get an idea how to play the game... here are the specifics of how it's played at Gpokr:
Gpokr is EASY to play. There are a few buttons and a slider/bet area under the table to help you play
Pretty easy to understand... Fold, Check (or call), Bet (or raise) and an amount box with a slider. Slide that thing up and scare your opponents out of the pot!
There are also some check boxes to facilitate speed:
Be careful using these though! If you are unlucky you'll be trying to click "call" and end up raising since the raise button will appear here.
Finally Alt1, Alt2 and Alt3 key combinations mirror the Fold, Check, Bet button functionality respectively.
GPokr is a tournament. Gpokr is a competitive tournament in which the players with the most money have the highest rank. At the end of the month the tournament closes and the winner is the person with the most money. Each tournament starts at 12PM (noon) on the first day of the month. The tournament continues without stopping through the last day of the month and ends on the stroke of 12AM (midnight) of the first day of the next month.
Gpokr is played in "Cash Game" style. Most poker tournaments are elimination based while at Gpokr you can keep playing even after you have lost all your money (burned, felted, busted, gone out, made an unbelievable dumb all-in) - you just refill! In the ring games the blinds do not raise. Instead there are tables with different stakes available to players with enough chips to play at them.
Betting is a big blind or larger. When betting you must bet at least the amount of the big blind. But bets can be of any size up to the size of your stack at the table. This is called "Going all in". There are also no limits on how much or how many times a bet can be raised. If you'd like to make the table really mad you can a friend could keep rasing each other over and over until one of you runs out of chips. This is called "Chain Raising".
Refills. Since Gpokr is a free play money poker game it costs you nothing more than time to play. When you run out of chips all you have to do is "sit in" once again and you'll automatically get 1500 fresh new chips to waste... I mean play. Now, you have to wait TEN WHOLE MINUTES in between refills.
Ranking system. Gpokr has a ranking system and each month medals are awarded to players in 5 categories:
1st place GOLD MEDAL
2nd place SILVER MEDAL
3rd place BRONZE MEDAL
4th - 25th place BLUE MEDAL
26st - 100th place WHITE MEDAL
Gpokr development is supported by it's members and donators..
