Loaning money is bad for gpokr. First of all, this is a monthly competition, not a popularity contest. The spirit of competition is lost when players stop competing and start colluding. Likewise, if your car breaks down in a race, you're out! You certainly don't get you're position back just cause you KNOW the guy in 1st place. Loaning is cheating. When you accept a loan, you are cutting ahead of all the honest players who are slowly working their way up. Players complain that they don't like playing at the $50 tables because players there constantly go all in with rags. Guess what? They do that because they feel no value in the $$ that has been given to them. Loaning spreads this same "it's fake money mentality" upstakes. In fact, there are specifically created limits on the upper tables to stop the $1500 alliner's from playing there. If everybody is playing on loaned money, all the tables turn into the $50's. If every table on gpokr is like that, then everybody goes all in all the time. An already thin virtual version of poker decays into chaos. Loaning money is bad for gpokr. Please don't do it, please tell others not to and please treat it as cheating. |

at 11:50 PM, Saturday April 26, 2008 EDT I find it hard to even call it a "loan" I'm sure most people never get paid back. Vince would be number 1 for the next two months with just interest from his "loans"
Anyway, just thought Nectar made a very good point, and wanted to make it a thread in case anyone missed it. |

Opie, are you a talker or a doer? You're a moderator aren't you ...with the power to mute?? Its hard to ask for a loan if....(figure the rest) I can mute people, if they are abusive in chat, and I can reset avatars. I could, in theory, mute and stop all the people that I think are "Cheaters" from playing until Ryan steps in, but to do that would be, in my opinion, is an abuse of power. |

Personally, I do not understand Ryans creation of mods. With their 'power' they can change pics and mute people? We can all click a pic if it offends us to change it to a back to a blue face and the mute command gave individuals the choice to 'listen' to a heckler or not. I have been asked why I am not a mod, no thanks I am not power hungry and I don't need the hassle. |

at 6:17 AM, Sunday April 27, 2008 EDT Yes but if I have to look at a disgusting avatar , the harm is done. I dont feel like im here with nice people, I got the feeling that im pokering with morons and then I rather poker somewhere else. I think that's the idea, extreme avatars are devastating for the culture here. |
