REALITY CHECK

Guys this is gpokr. Now don't get me wrong, I know how serious it is to some of you ((gpokrFBIagent)) lmao, but c'mon now what do you expect from a FREE POKER site? You're all bashing on these so called cheaters and to some extent are right, but again, this isn't real. If you get first place or top one hundred or whatever, great job, but do you really feel accomplished at the end of the month like you did something significant with your life? Go play real poker if you want to play realistically.

Absolute bollocks! Surely the main goal of this free to play poker site is to get a medal and Im sure many want to get themselves one, therefore those getting one through loans are taking up a medal spot which should be filled by someone who has earned all their chips. Its a question of ethics and creating a level playing field, free or not winning your own chips has to be the ultimate aim. If you had a medal yourself MB311 then maybe your view would be a little more relevant

Can I agree and disagree?

I do think that Gpokr can be taken too seriously. I do think that using Gpokr as a measure of poker accomplishment is just plain silly. If anything, it might be a measure of how to play against extreme low stakes players (5&10 cent blinds), lol.

BUT...

I don't think that because this is a free poker site, cheating should be taken lightly. I think the mentality of "It doesn't matter, so what if I cheat/lie" is a big reason for corruption in today's culture, but that's another conversation. =)

I think that a lot of people's "seriousness" has to do with what they have invested into the site. There are many people who have invested real money (memberships). And there are many people who have invest time (1000's of hands).

To cheat, cheats these people out of their time.

It also cheats people out of their money, because people believe they are supporting a fair site. If people knew of exploits and collusion between players, would they have donated?

I also think cheating takes away from the fun. Would you want to play a video game, or even a simple game of checkers, if you knew the other player was cheating?

Cheating also hurts Ryan, I know he didn't do all of this programming to have a few players screw it up.

I'd hate for a handful of players ruin a great free poker site.

Anyways...

I hope everyone has fun next month and doesn't get rivered too much, lol

I agree with Alfa, you don't have to take the game serious to be bothered by cheaters.

My main goal is to learn to play better poker, but when I do I like to be rewarded for that. Eventually my secondary goal will be to get such a medal.

As long as there are loaners on this site I will not donate money. For the simpel fact that I don't want to support a site that is half a pokersite half a popularity contest.

Okay rabid wombie why don't you automatically jump into insult mode and go straight for my lack of medals. Lol
You're one of the people on here that get me. If you would have payed a little closer attention before insulting me, you'd see that I said "and to some extent, are right." I don't agree with cheating, I simply disagree with the dramatic effect it causes on this forum that I never read until last night to realize all the ridiculous hype!
The best reply to this i've read so far was blackglasses. It's a cyber space popularity contest here. Why would you donate money to it in the first place if you didn't anticipate all of this?!?! Before you sign your name on something don't you read what you're signing?
Solution:
If you want this site to be clean you're not going to have a choice but to make it members only. You can't moderate people and expose them in a forum like it's going to do some good on a free internet site. Wake up!
