3 of a Kind vs. 2 Pairs?

I just lost my hand of a 3 of a kind to another hand of 2 pairs. I'm pretty sure by standard poker rules that a hand of 3 of a kind is better than 2 pairs.

The pot wasn't big or anything (about 500 chips or so) but I would like to know if this was a mistake in the programming or just a freak occurrence. I'd like know ahead of time before actually losing a ton of chips due to this "glitch."

Also curious if this has happened to anyone else out there.

My best guess is that you mis-read the board (easliy done). Having played thousands of hands here I can honestly say that a set or trips has ALWAYS beaten a two pair.

I can also honestly say that I have been astonished to see an inferior hand win the pot and then looked at the text and realised that I'd mis-read the board.
