Maybe some new players don't know, but this site HAS BEEN CONCEIVED with 'friendship' in thought..
That's why we have all the "friends" actions. So : when someone say 'Hi' or 'Hey' when coming to your table, don't ignore him/her.. A simple 'hi' in respond WOULD BE appreciated.. That's just standard politness, and more, a way to friendship, the site is all about.. |

at 6:09 AM, Monday April 12, 2010 EDT Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment of your post, I must vehemently disagree with the basis of the idealistic fantasy regarding the conception of this site. The creator of this site has no desire to create neither client satisfaction nor, more pertinently, harmony between the users. The reason why this site has become a customarily "friendly" and harmonious site, is due to the players here enjoying eachother's company.
It's almost a perverse bi product of the lack of care and service offered by the creator of this site that has somewhat directed the site into becoming a friend based arena, due to there being little or nothing else worth staying on this site for. The overall service and usability of this site is one of the poorest you will find, but as everyone often cites on here......it's the people that make it what it is. So please do not give credit to the creator of this site as he only set this site up as a test for GWT to use on other projects and proves consistently how little he is bothered. I would rather extend my gratitude to some very fine people I have met here. From the Ryan Dewsbury blog: June 16, 2006 Google Web Toolkit + Texas Holdem Poker = gpokr.com "I work pretty hard most of the time. Sometimes I play poker instead. Sometimes I work and play poker at the same time. www.gpokr.com is a test of the google web toolkit. It is written completely in java. The interface is compiled down to javascript so it will work in most browsers. The backend is a java servlet running red hat on a virtual machine on my xp box. I know, ghetto. Play a hand. The demo is in alpha so it may break while I'm away, have patience and come back to check out its progress." JUST HOW PATIENT? I GUESS 4 YEARS ISN'T ALL THAT LONG!!!! |
