Just hit AAAA, followed by 4444 very next hand. Granted it was Omaha, nonetheless I was pretty stoked with the hands (and the pots). :)

Perhaps quads are much more common in Omaha, I hit quad Ts twice last night winning large pots each time.

I'm really enjoying Omaha, it's early days but this game seems extremely soft, I've played six sessions this week and won 343 big blinds or 3.4 buy ins. Returns work out at about 20BBs per hour which is very pleasing.

Probably means I've got a two week downswing headed my way.

Really glad to hear you're doing well. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I would be totally lost at that game. I've only watched a few hands & the possiblities seem to be endless from what little I've seen. Best of luck my friend.

Thanks Cotton. I delayed trying Omaha because I thought it would be tough to figure out but it's been going well so far. I've been playing super tight and learning that double suited straight hands like 8h,9c,Tc,Jh are great for raising, calling a raise or re-raising. Hands like that will crack big pairs so often that it's well worth seeing a flop with a bloated pot. Something else I've learned is that mid pairs say 5h5c8s8c are useless, hitting mid/bottom set is a great way to lose a good portion of your stack.

When I think about it gpokr is better training for Omaha than it is for hold'em. Most hands see lots of limpers and strong draws have much more equity than big pairs, two pairs and sets.

A great spot to be in is holding the nut straight on the flop with a draw to the nut flush. In that situation you might find that your big bet gets called or raised and you usually know that the villain has the same straight. Now if you hold a huge draw as well as a made hand you're in a position to A)Split the pot or B)Hit your draw and take the villains entire stack. It's these situations that seem to be the juiciest because you can't lose and you can win big.

I'm actually enjoying PLO more than hold'em at the moment and sticking to the maxim of 'play the cards not the player' which seems to be working for this particular novice.

Omaha is great fun, it has a lot in common with hold'em and a lot of subtle and not so subtle differences. If you fancy an interesting diversion from hold'em I'd recommend you give it a go.
