Altered Rankings

Just an idea, but I thought it forum-worthy.

I assume (yes I know what assume makes) that a lot of people, like myself are true net-warriors - who enjoy a good competition, and a battlefield worthy of playing on;

but this ranking stuff, it just messes things up. People go 'Away', or team up to beat everyone else in ways that ruin the sport of the game, all in the name of a few ranking points that mean zilch when considering your actual skill at the game.

To fix this, i think that it should be made so that only 1st and 2nd, or even only 1st gets any actual points, that way people will use truces and diplomacy in a healthy way - to beat the hell out of the biggest guy.

It's sad, but I think the computer players in dice wars are actually better than this than real players, since they'll actually try to attack when they are one of the littler players, whereas most players will immediately pick the biggest person around and call truce begging for 3rd place - which is promptly rewarded by the guy who happens to be 1st at the time.

Personally I can't stand this kind've manuevering - it takes the fun out of the game. In fact, when I'm winning a match, usualy I'll make a conscious effort to knock out the guys who hide first, and give extra room to the ones who try to fight back.

I enjoy a good fight is all, and when people use truces in the way I've seen them be used, it just ruins the fun.

My two cents I suppose, let the flaming of me begin ;p.

You need to try the sandbox version:

There is a new scoring system that addresses some of your concerns.

This new system will probably be moved into the main game.
