Hi, yesterday i was banned from chatting following the use of abusive language- i admit to this.
But i was provoked, i made a comment about how a girl should be fired if she's on this at work behind her bosses back. (i'm sure you would be outraged if you were paying someone to play on this behind your back). This comment was met with fierce resistance and language from 4 or 5 people. I responded, and got blocked. I am sorry for being abusive, but was backed into a corner by several people, who cared not for the point i was making, and decided i was a nasty person. I wish for you to reinstall my ability to chat, because i do not wish to play this game if i get blocked for speaking up against someone who is dodging work. Thanks |

at 4:18 AM, Thursday May 29, 2008 EDT Can I just say as a Moderator I prefer to give a few polite requests and warnings, and wait till the player in question constantly abuses others on several occasions, or if the language is excessive and nonstop, before muting them.
Arguments at table are inevitable considering different opinions and backgrounds, but even if things get heated and swearing starts I don't think this deserves muting etc. I don't feel that Moderators should mute players for one offence or even for an insult directed at them personally. Instead I feel I am here to control those players who do not care about playing poker or being polite to their fellow players but seem to get a kick out of repeatedly insulting every person they see or just filling up the chat or forum with bad language simply for amusement. As to the player woopdoop I will consult JulesDogg about his chat ability. JulesDogg may have restored it but if so it has been removed again, I do not know by who. If I can't find out the reason for the second removal, I will give him his chat back. |

at 8:08 AM, Thursday May 29, 2008 EDT I'm in StevenL's dingy on this one. I come from Scotland and there the word 'cunt' is used like punctuation usually a full stop. In fact, the area of scotland in which I stay it is often used as a term of endearment. As to working and playing I'm all for it as long as the work gets done...Hey if you can do it at the beach do it at the beach...Work as if in the earlier days of a better nation... and play gpokr obviously

at 8:45 AM, Thursday May 29, 2008 EDT i agree you shouldn't get blocked for just a one time thing but if it was an ongoing thing that is abusive then yes the chat should be revoked, and if i was a boss i would be upset that my employee was playing and not working, lol...(as my husband is sometimes with me, hehe).
