Suggestion to fix competitive play

The best way to have a competitive site with fake chips is to mimick real play.

Right now people are afraid to make value bets when they have the best hand, beause if some donkey sucks out he can put allin pressure on him and the risk of losing is going to 0, not being able to play meaningful games during the time it takes you to build up points.

In a real cash game, you get sucked out or you get bad luck on value bets, you can buyin for as much as you want, and play the odds until the luck evens out and you take the donkey's money.

If you have a good read on someone and flop top two pair, you cant even value bet 2x pot to stop someone from trying to buy a gutshot straight / bottom pair hand.

The incremental gains from making value bets is superceded by the negative risk of someone sucking out a good hand and putting you back at 0.

I guess someone might say that the best way to overcome this is by playing table limits that only take less than half your stack, but that just means you have to play a whole lot more game to be competitive.

An easy solution to this problem would be by increasing the default chip level, perhaps to $50k, and to avoid people burning tons of chips carelessly you can extend the reill period from minutes to days or even put a max limit.

Or just make a more tourneys, have higher buyins for tourneys, and you dont even need to give more bonus money for these addition tourneys. You survive tourneys you have to be a dynamic player concered with blinds and value bets.

I don't think GPokr is any worse than other sites that play with fake money (as far as play goes, we'll leave out the technical difficulties).

I would also like to see more competitive play on the site because I truly want to learn the game and not rely on luck or aggression to cash in.

The advantage to GPokr is that there aren't as many users as some of the big poker sites and as players become familiar, it's easier to distinguish the poker players from the ones who are just playing bingo.

I haven't been playing for long, but I have learned a lot since I came on and to those of you who take the game seriously, I thank you for helping me improve my game.

To the bingo players--why not just play Farmville in your spare time? It requires about the same level of thought as your poker play and you'll eventually have more to show for your mindless clicking of buttons.

You whiners are all just a bunch of NOOBs that don't know how to adjust.

Adjust? When you "adjust" in a game with actual players, dealing with maniacs tends to be about knowing when to call or reraise the bets they make with mediocre hands.

There is no adjustment to a bunch of fools who go all in with whatever hand they are dealt, not considering any of the finer points of the game, such as position, hand strength, odds, etc.

If poker was about just going all in and hoping for the best, there would be no need for the thousands of books and websites about strategy.

Go ahead, call me a whiny NOOB, I sure as hell won't be dripping tears on my keyboard about it. But if you play like the people we are whining about, please bring your "skills" to Delaware and get into a cash game with me.

The one thing I hate more than people going all-in over and over, are the people that re-hash the word "noob" like they invented it. Everytime I hear you self-entitled poker prodigies b**ch and moan about losing a hand and spew out "noob" like it's the world's best insult.
I beg of you, read a book or two, develop a vocabulary pertinenent to reality, and stop stroking your ego.
That is all.

Hey One Trick, yeah I'll spend time trying to adjust to this free money. But fuck, hang on! There's no gain it, thick I'll go play a live tourney tonight instead.

Gpokr sucks cos it fckn sucks and always will.

Want a competitive game? Walk away from G and sign up to real cash or play live real cash. It's the only way. This place is JokePoker, ChildPoker, NoPoker.

A coffee break piss about at best.

Rattus, if this place is so shit why are you always here running down the site on the forum? why would a hardcore pro like yourself even bother? if your play on gpokr is anything to go by it probably coz you lost all your £££££££ in real money games. I "thick" you fckn suck and would be happy to never read your pathetic whinging again.

Long live Gpokr best free poker site on the net by far
