Suggestion to fix competitive play

The best way to have a competitive site with fake chips is to mimick real play.
Right now people are afraid to make value bets when they have the best hand, beause if some donkey sucks out he can put allin pressure on him and the risk of losing is going to 0, not being able to play meaningful games during the time it takes you to build up points. In a real cash game, you get sucked out or you get bad luck on value bets, you can buyin for as much as you want, and play the odds until the luck evens out and you take the donkey's money. If you have a good read on someone and flop top two pair, you cant even value bet 2x pot to stop someone from trying to buy a gutshot straight / bottom pair hand. The incremental gains from making value bets is superceded by the negative risk of someone sucking out a good hand and putting you back at 0. I guess someone might say that the best way to overcome this is by playing table limits that only take less than half your stack, but that just means you have to play a whole lot more game to be competitive. An easy solution to this problem would be by increasing the default chip level, perhaps to $50k, and to avoid people burning tons of chips carelessly you can extend the reill period from minutes to days or even put a max limit. Or just make a more tourneys, have higher buyins for tourneys, and you dont even need to give more bonus money for these addition tourneys. You survive tourneys you have to be a dynamic player concered with blinds and value bets. |

at 9:00 PM, Wednesday April 21, 2010 EDT I just find it frustrating when I get people to call me when I go allin with a great hand, and they have 2 outs and get lucky. Or I make value bets like a smart player and some donkey calls for a suckout then traps me. Anyway if you play max limit tables and make smart bets, you will absolutely get busted by bad players, then you have 0 chips and have to spend a long time playing bingo on the noob tables.
The only way to avoid this is by playing small tables so you can recover from a bad beat and win it back... but that makes it boring to play small stakes. Anyway the site would be improved by encouraging more skilled play by having more large buyin tourneys, or perhaps having people refill with 25k, only allowiung refills every 4-5days or limit to 3/4 refills each month. Anyway i would be happy to see a lot more 10k+ buyin tourneys, maybe even constant sit-and-go 10k-25k tourneys. |

at 7:24 PM, Thursday April 22, 2010 EDT Leek you're ideas are just what the site needs but don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen. It seems this site would rather have really poor players than decent players. I don't play here anymore but I check to say hi to a few. If they were to change the rules to where it would punish stupid play I'd probably come back but I'm not counting on it so I'll probably stick tp facebook.....lol. I've met alot of good people there to. GL.

at 2:27 AM, Friday April 23, 2010 EDT Im sure your idea makes alot of sence leekstep, but not to the creator of this site, he wants as many clicks as possible on the banners. And pleas people do not forget, alot of people playing here are here trying to learn. I myself for instance, and yes i make progression, slowly but i do.So im gratefull to have the opportunity to learn for free instead of loosing my real money. Even if it means annoying some of the advanced players.

Peace & Love brothers : ) PS. Love the 'hardcore poker pro' comment, made me lmfao so thanks for that. |

at 1:48 PM, Friday April 23, 2010 EDT @ Leek, the tourney ideas are ok but the refill thing will never fly. The creator wants traffic and couldn't give a damn about the pitiful standards of play. Nice that you care about improvement. If you have a decent game move to low stakes real money, you'll find it a lot more satisfying and it'll improve your game which is something that cannot happen here for the obvious reasons.
