at 12:43 PM, Monday February 21, 2011 EST I don't think of either hand as really being that great but you know by now shed what goes on here. I'm really sad the noobtarb lost 10 mil in 1 day to bust out for the month. He had the perfect name, game, & av to be a true gpokr champ. The play that happens here isn't poker. It's just everyone call & see who hits. Doesn't matter about preflop bets or what cards you're holding. Nothing but a roulette wheel. The play sucks.....the players suck. I like a few of them .......despise the rest. GL to you dear you will surely need it. Skill doesn't work here.

at 6:59 AM, Tuesday February 22, 2011 EST Well... let me start by saying, good morning. I type quite a bit so I don't know if this'll be read completely.
Let me explain something to you: There's plenty that factors into my play here at gpoker. I've had to learn the hard way (being new) that sets are not as strong as I like to think they are. I lay down Queens, Jacks and any pocket pair fairly often because of how many people are in the pot. I love KK... who doesn't? I just do not like the odds of KK going against 4 or 6 other cards instead of 2 other cards. Anyone that I play with can tell you I engage in quite a bit of table talk. I love that element of the game. I engage in Venture Capital for what will likely be the rest of my life. I love assessing value to hands. What is the risk? What is the reward? What is the price I am willing to pay to chase my open ended straight? I get Pocket Queens... I observe the table, what is the point at which my QQ at more of a disadvantage than an advantage? 3 people in the pot? 4? --- Yes I can earn more if I win with my Pocket pair and beat 4 other hands, but I also have a far greater chance of being out-drawn. Finally... the question all Venture Capitalists must engage... 'Can I afford to lose if the worst possible scenario occurs?'. This is where I observe short stacks, I made a 200$ call with 6 9 earlier because the short stack went all in with 200. I could blink and make more than that the next hand so yes, I could afford to lose it, I lost it to his Q 9. In this case... If our roles were reversed I would not have called 1,000$ with an Ace 2 preflop. If you had made the raise, would I have called with 8 6? Very likely not. It was all based around that situation. Finally... I'm sorry but I'd do it again. Not the exact same amount, not the exact same hand, but when I play I continue to study the table and I will assess value to hands. I will lay down kings if 3 diamonds pop up on the flop. I will have to learn to throw away my set if an opponent goes all in for my stack's size or larger if the board indicates several ways my set can be beat... It's just the way the game is played, I will play differently as the short stack than I would as table leader. I will play differently heads up than I will at a table of 9. Natalie |
