I borrowed chips.......is this wrong?

It was 1 minute away from a tournament starting and was just a few hundred $ below the buy in. I asked if I could borrow from a fellow player, who will remain nameless, and they kindly donated this small amount. I entered the tournament (which incidentally I played poorly and went out early) due to my preference for tournament play on this site. Do people generally think this is wrong? I personally don't see a problem in it as I take the "more the merrier" attitude to the tournaments. Any thoughts?

No 'thoughts' needed, site rules are VERY clear

3 Loaning money is not allowed

So the answer is yes, you did wrong.

Please dont do it in future or a play suspension may be necessary.

I think the essence of progression is discussion and reason. I don't see it as a chance to reaffirm the Gpokr mandate, I see it as an opportunity to question the current intransigence of the rules. There is a pretty decent demographic of coherent and well reasoned players on this site, so that it need not be dogmatically set in stone.

If the majority believe this to be inappropriate and unacceptable, then I will certainly refrain from doing it, however I just thought it should be put out there for discussion, purely for the sake of advancement.

Even though I understand and know that several people do the same thing Shed. T is right. It is clear in the rules.

Was it not loaning to get you in the tourney? There ya go. Seems simple enough.

I am not saying that I like or dislike all the rules, however, they are set. You know very well that Ryan does not pay too much attention to this forum. I would suggest that you send him a email. I know that in the past, we have debated this and he is very clear cut and to the point on the rules.

This site is a monthly competition, however you play should have that in mind at all times. Regardless if it is 1500 to get into a tourney or more.

Put it this way.... you won the tourney. Got a big prize, went to other tables and continued to win....at the end of the month. You got a medal. That medal was not earned as how it started. 1 loan to a million played doesnt make it right.

People have played off this whole "helping" for years. "my chips, I can call/give what I want"... bottom line is it is a monthly competition.

Well it is...because the rules state that. But...the chips aren't real so players do as they please. Plus the mods can't/don't do much about it. Just saying...

I have never borrowed chips but I am guilty of giving them away. I don't lend, I just give them up....if you need them I will (if i have them) give them to you....:) I know the rules and abide by them most of the time. If a friend is in need I will be the friend indeed
