Why be a member?

I've been playing here on and off for about 6 years and I still can't work out why anyone would pay money to play on this site? So you get to play in "exclusive" tournaments that don't even work properly much of the time, you get another meaningless icon next to your name (I think), you start the month with a few more chips (quite a paltry amount considering you've given money), the "customer service" is at best poor and mostly non-existent, the site barely gets any maintenance attention, almost never has improvements to either gameplay, usability or just aesthetic appeal.

Serious question.....why are some of you throwing your money way?

Being a member is much more than getting extra chips,as we all know you can make 25k in 30 mins or less. The whole point of being a member is to help keep the site online. There is much more to running a site than most people know.
Ryan does the best he can, I see him in here almost everyday and I know he is working on something. Also it is 3 sites, poker, sketch and kdice and all have problems with one thing or another.
Being a member means it makes Ryan's time worth someting to keep the site up.It also makes it a free site to play for everyone else. To be honest 3.33 a month is worth it to be able to play here and have marvelous friends and also the not so marvelous ones...grins.I know the tourneys have been frustrating the past 2 weeks just be patient a bit longer.
To be fair Ryan also has a job and a family. He is also in the works of creating sit n go's. I am glad I don't have as much responsibility as he does...Lynn

Actually the problem with the members tourneys have been going on for two months now lynny so frustration is stepping in it is always the same two. So in all reality I think the members would appreciate having the 3 member tourneys a day running properly as some of us sit up to play one or two. Maybe if we got an update like we are about the test site we wouldnt get so impatient. But I still wouldnt consider cancelling membership for this sole reason.

I agree mad, but it seems to have gotten worse the past two weeks and more so last week. Ryan did respond to me saying he is trying to figure out with the problem is and is going to try a new stack. It seems to be just the members tourney for the most part that is having trouble. But he is taking the problem seriously.

Maddie and Lynn, thank you for your considered and interesting views on the subject. This was the kind of discussion I was hoping to engage in and as such you have shed light on a topic I wanted to know about from a different perspective to mine. Thanks guys

RutttOh and mr bill, there are topics of conversation on this forum that are quite clearly inciting and/or bitching. Please try to be more discerning as to how and when you wish to pick a fight, believe it or not, there are some people in the world that can discuss an issue with very strong views and opinions with the intent to acquire new knowledge and information and not for the sole immature purpose of becoming embroiled in a slanging match. Perhaps you will learn this one day once your Karma runs over your Dogma

haywood..the ads you see are affiliates they don't charge. What affiliates are for is to advertise, so they pay the site for each time an ad is clicked on. Payment is very varied, when I did it several years ago some paid as high as 5.00 per click and some as low as 5 cents. Hope this helps your question.
