Exactly...running a site like this isn't free.

I think us users are worth more than that. If it didn't interfere with the usability of the site, I wouldn't have a problem with it. It is my understanding that even the people who donate are still seeing these take-over ads.

If the ads keep this site running, I'm happy resizing and scrolling my window so they are out of my sight. I see no reason why Ryan shouldn't be able to generate some revenue from his efforts. If you haven't donated I'd say there's a possibility that you're a user that is overestimating your worth to the site.

I'm not talking about the regular banner ads. Those are fine. I'm talking about the ad that "takes over" the site and says "this page is sponsored by..." When I close out that ad window, it freezes the table. Like I said, if it didn't interfere with the usability of the site I wouldn't have a problem with it. ah, I don't get those. But I have several pop-up, ad, and flash blockers activated in Firefox.

He he. But due to some oddness with my account, I have to use Camino to post to the ideas and forums...one of those ads took over when I was typing. Yeah, THOSE, are damned annoying.

Ok, I'll go with damned annoying. At least you know what I'm talking about now. It's the equivalent of going to someone's house, getting ready to walk in the door, then all of the sudden a midget jumps out of the tree and starts biting your leg. You finally beat the midget up, but then you have to walk all the way up the driveway again.
